Il Fornaio

Quiet and quaint, Carmel by the Sea is a fun destination for relaxing beach walks and, you guessed it, french toast. I have to admit, looking at the menu at Il Fornaio, I debated forsaking my french toast alliance for pizza or waffles, but don't worry, my allegiance stayed true. Now at the time, I had been stuck in a car for three hours and I was hungry! I think I single handedly emptied the bread basket. The preview for the french toast was delicious. When my awaited meal finally arrived, I dove straight in. The edges were supreme, perfectly caramelized and sweet. The middle of the toast was a little soft for my taste, but still good none the less. The presentation is unique; the french toast was cut into strips. I snuck some potatoes off of my dad's plate and my sisters authentic pizza was delightful. Overall, my experience was good and the waiters were lovely. After brunch, I walked off my meal at the beach. It was worth the drive.
